<title>Broadband over Power Lines in Samarçolles: inauguration of a successful project! </title>
			<link>http://www.ilevo.com/en/news-events/ilevo-news/archive/2007/july/article/broadband-over-power-lines-in-samarcolles-inauguration-of-a-successful-project/</link>
<description>Bringing Broadband Communications to its 500 inhabitants, in a simple and quick way, here is the challenge that local authorities decided to take up in Samarçolles, a small town in Vienne department, west of France. Since the area was not eligible to receive broadband communications by ADSL or Optical Fiber, Samarçolles local authorities decided to go for Power Line Communications technology, that consists in bringing broadband communications over power lines.
Thus, a communication infrastructure combining PLC and WiFi was set up in Samarçolles, lighting up with broadband communications the main village and surrounding hamlets.
Ilevo is very proud to be part of this project, that strongly involved all local partners. A common success that can be seen into users' high level of satisfaction. This also confirms the capabilities of Ilevo 200Mbps PLC technology to overcome digital divide issues. The example of Samarçolles opens the way for larger PLC deployments in France, like those already started by Ilevo worldwide, in India, Australia, Switzerland...
The official inauguration of Samarçolles PLC infrastructure was held on June 29, 2007, in presence of Philippe CURE, Sous-Préfet de Châtellerault, Alain FOUCHE, Président du Conseil Général et Sénateur de la Vienne, Jean-Pierre ABELIN, Vice-Président du Conseil Général, Bruno BELIN, Président de la Communauté de Communes du Pays Loudunais, Jean TOURET, Vice-Président du Conseil Général, and all Samarçolles inhabitants.</description>

<title>UPA: leading the delivery of Global Interoperable Powerline Products and Services</title>
			<link>http://www.ilevo.com/en/news-events/ilevo-news/archive/2007/june/article/upa-leading-the-delivery-of-global-interoperable-powerline-products-and-services/</link>
<description>The UPA (Universal Powerline Association), leading body that develops and implements specifications and compliance testing for interoperable powerline equipment has just announced the most complete suite of 200 Mbps powerline networking products. According to Eric Morel, Chairman of UPA and CEO of Ilevo, &quot;the use of UPA qualified products by leading IPTV operators, utilities, networking companies, system integrators [...] around the world coupled with the large range of interoperable UPA products available to consumer signify the begining of critical mass for powerline communications&quot;. Driving the demand for the latest 200 Mbps UPA products is video connectivity at home. Not surprising then that UPA compliant products are used in almost all commercial rollouts of IPTV over powerlines. On top of quality of services, UPA technology allows to share multimedia content througout the home, by connecting televisions, PCs, game consoles, media servers, Set-top-boxes &amp; other IP-enabled devices.
Ilevo's ILV701 and ILV715 are part of this suite of UPA qualified products, embedding the UPA 200Mpbs technology and allowing coexistence with other UPA products.
