TeliaSonera is the leading telecommunications company in the Nordic and Baltic region and also holds big interests in Eurasia, Turkey, and Russia, with over 80 millions customers. Based in Sweden, this ISP offers reliable, innovative and easy-to-use services for the transmission and packaging of sound, images, data, information, transactions, and entertainment.
To enhance its broadband services portfolio, TeliaSonera wanted to offer new services, particularly IPTV. They problem they were facing, like many other ISP, was the last meter connection between their 'service box' and end-users multimedia devices.
TeliaSonera has therefore evaluated different technologies and tested all equipment available on the market to check their abilities to address the last meter connection issue they wanted to overcome. By the end of 2006, TeliaSonera came to the conclusion that PLC technology is the most appropriate solution to handle the last meter connection and that "Ilevo delivers the best overall concept in terms of performance, user friendliness, price and support" - Andreas Granbom, purchase manager for TeliaSonera.
Since January 2007, the Ilevo ILV701 PLC adapter (Duomega package) is available in all 76 Telia stores in Sweden.
